Women’s football pathway launched We're delighted to announce the creation of a new pathway, driving the future of women's football in West Dunbartonshire.Five of Dumbarton United's girls sides have now joined forces with Dumbarton Football Club, giving us a full pathway from those taking their first steps in football to first team football with our women's team - currently playing in the SWFL Central-West.It's the latest step in developing our academy programme, with the goal of having all sides playing and training at The Marbill Coaches Stadium when an artificial pitch is installed - making it a true hub for football in the community.Cameron Watson, Executive Director of Dumbarton Football Club said: "This is a major day in the history of Dumbarton Football Club and for women's football in West Dunbartonshire generally, and we're delighted to welcome the girls and their coaches to the club."The introduction of our women's team last summer has seen them go from strength-to-strength, and those girls will be outstanding role models for the next generation coming through. All of us at the club are excited to follow their progress."Gerry Gallacher, Head Coach of Dumbarton Football Club's Women's Team said: "With this momentous announcement, Dumbarton FC has shown their commitment to advancing women's and girls' football in the West Dunbartonshire and Argyll & Bute regions and beyond."Alongside DFC Women, the club will now enter teams at all youth levels for season 2026. Any player who wishes to join the club will enjoy a full player pathway to senior football. We had a great night at the Marbill Coaches Stadium for the launch on what is a great milestone for girls' football in the community."
